2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Shucks, thanks, Kc :kisses3: I popped into work this morning to drop a form in (and some excess stationery which the dept can use in the Summer) and had a word with my boss about it - she thinks I'd be good for the role but did say there's been quite a lot of applicants for it. However, at the very least she sees no reason why I shouldn't at least get interviewed (I don't like interviews - am very out of practice at them!) Just have to wait and see.....

So I applied - and had notification they had received my application. However, I've heard nothing since - and the interviews are on Monday, so it's not looking great, seeing as we are on Weds afternoon... Ah well, it's not like I was looking for a job, I guess - this one just turned up and would've been handy. Never mind!
Anyway, in more exciting news, one of the properties where we have our BTL has gone on the market. I tend to value it at 100-105K - but this one has gone on for 130K :T It's the same as ours and even the interior has been fitted out very, very similarly, so I'm optimistic that ours would go for a similar price. It's not that meaningful a figure, as obviously it needs to sell, and I'd suspect 5K below asking price. Still means our net worth is a little bit more than we thought it was, though :T :j - I'll take that!!
In other news, OH continues to be looking for a new contract. I don't think he's too stressed by it at the mo, thankfully. He's not doing any house-y jobs, though (although any involving outside are a definite no - it's bloomin' cold out there! - we woke up this morning to a light dusting of very crunchy snow! :snow_grin A couple of interviews so far, but nothing more concrete than that yet.
Sad news about Pati55erie Va1erie yesterday

Hi GreenT, hope all well with you and yours. Just catching up again after another little period of AWOLness. Hope you hear something about the job tomorrow. I have been looking around a little as work has been stressful, but then always get cold feet and think "out of the frying pan into the fire" type comments! I didn't hear anything about the job at all - which I think is terribly rude when I work there and the 'receipt' email said she'd be in contact soon (not if I was successful for interview) I was seriously cross over that fact way more than not getting it!
Anyway, it's not like I was looking for a job - this one fell into my path, so I'm no worse off in any way - and I genuinely do enjoy invigilating and I have a fab boss and great rest of the team. It has made me question a - do I want to do more with my time/ brain nowadays (probably yes - and I know I could volunteer somewhere again (and may still do) but I fancy getting paid if I do! - invigilating is only just over min wage (DD gets paid more than I do per hour making sandwiches in the SU!!) and I'm worth more than that if I went for a more regular role and b- do I want to work somewhere where people get treated poorly (as in lack of communication re job application) (I know - I've got a real bee in my bonnet about that!!
) Don't get me wrong - I may still do some more volunteering - I've been seriously thinking about that for the last couple of months anyway
Anyway - I can always look for a job properly going forward if I want to
So - what else? OH went for an interview all the way over Suffolk way yesterday!!! He doesn't want it now that he's been - didn't like the place and the journey times are horrific (with no opportunity for wfh) But at least he knows - and interview practice can't be a bad thing!
Little bits of money here and there this week - £20 from Rece1pt H0g, £7.60+ from tcb (have £90+ which *should* become payable next week - fingers crossed!!) and am waiting for a couple more £ to become payable on Pr0lif1c before I cash out there) - all of these have been added to our 2020 holiday fund (would have been to mtge if we weren't planning a big holiday!!) and I will transfer most of this month's c-tax payment to there too it's slowly growing with very little effort so far! :T
It's the company year end next week (31/01) so I want to get all the paperwork up together and drop it off at the accountants the following week (or maybe the week after - I'm working 3 days the following week) It's almost up straight, just some month end expenses, the bank rec a few invoices to print and the VAT return to do. Then I can start a shiny new* folder for 2019-2020 paperwork! (*actually - a recycled one!
) and we're also changing systems to Xer0 - so I need to paly with that and transfer all the items over..... fingers crossed it goes smoothly! Not communicating when you actually already work there goes beyond normal HR oblivious rudeness, you're right, greent. And you're worth *way* more than just over minimum - I admit, I think of you as a very high-level manager.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Too kind, Kc!

Looking back at Jan plans:January will be the usual post-Xmas month of attempting low spends/ eating from stores/ using up things we already have.
Other plans for Jan - well, it is DS2's bday . It is also DS1's gf's 18th bday in Jan.
OH plans to contact some recruiters at the start of Jan and then hopefully spend a few days in London later in the month actually meeting back up with them - always good to remind people!
I plan to re-start tracking my food intake from 2nd Jan (there's always leftovers from NYE on NYD which are too tempting! ) and make use of some of the gym equipment we have here in the house....
I have an alarming amount of toiletries (particularly face creams/ serums etc) to use up - mainly received as presents - so can see no reason why I need to spend on any such items.
Overall, I think Jan will be a month of re-grouping and re-assessing after Xmas - with possibly some plan-tweaking for the rest of the year. Ideally I'd like quite a quiet month
Pretty much on target - we spent c£420 on food, which included things for students and also a small amount of stocking up in case of Brexi-pocalypse.
DS2's bday was successful - and the 6 of us had a meal out DS1's gf ended up being gifted a bottle of pink fizz instead (still from stores) (DD took the flavoured vodka back with her to uni!)
OH contacted around 180! recruiters and has had several meetings and a couple of actual interviews in Jan.
Food was tracked sometimes - and sometimes not! SMall weight loss overall. STart of the month was good for exercise - the 2nd half not so much! Gym equip was not used.....
Toiletries spend for the month was <£5 - handwash for boys' bathroom, deodorant for DS2, shower gel for OH (needed a new bottle - the lid was broken and leaky on the old one - this new one will be topped up by hotel/ airline freebies until we run out!
) and a pack of babywipes (not eco friendly, I know - but it takes us around a year or more to use a pack - I like to have them in a bag for days out)
I'd say it was definitely a quiet month - which is no bad thing in my view! ANd included lots of housework!
Feb...….. more of the same, overall, I'd guess. OH is glued to the rugby whilst it's on this month
. I'd like a handful of small household tasks completed, if possible. Maybe a couple of days/ 1 night away in half term to see the students (other half term plans = cinema - new Leg0 movie
) Hopefully some more interviews for OH.... I've also got some things I'd like to get sold via flebay/ fb00k, so need to get on with that. Oh - and the co year end was 31st Jan, so I want to get all paperwork over to our accountant this month (and do the VAT return this week)
I've just (yesterday) finished my 3rd full stint with RM survey (I had another 1 month stint with them at one point, too) - I haven't even used all of the stamps from survey stint 1 yet (almost, but not quite) so have a fair old stash to get through. Not sure whether I'll do it again, if offered - I found this one more annoying than before (lots of cube parcels to go to PO with - and the staff there know me, so I had to keep coming up with ideas for what I was posting - the survey site's suggestion of foam samples just didn't seem that likely.....:rotfl:)
Money news? - I cashed out my first £20 with pr0lif1c last week - much more fun than yoogov
I also cashed out some money with Rece1pt H0g and some tcb and qu1dc0 cashback - all of which went into the hol fund
I've also opened another V*nguard ISA, so I've now got 2 different funds (woo - get me and diversifying! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
Anyway - time to get the g-pigs back inside from the garden now (snow has gone!) and then think about feeding the smalls, I guess....
Happy weekend

I'll throw my gripes in about being treated poorly for interviews. I applied for a 2 very good roles at a very well known place last year. More for application practice given the level, salary, new environment (though easily transferable skills). 5 weeks after deadline i was invited to interview less than 1 week later and i had 2 presentations to prepare. The e-mails was terribly written, so badly that i didn't really know which role i was being interviewed for. Interview lasted 9.30-1.45!!!! No food offered, or any reference to going for some. It was so badly conducted, I wasn't challenged in anyway instead it was all very basic level generic questions. I actually thought that they didn't have a clue what they wanted for the roles, and that i could have challenged the lead interviewer (head of department) on so many fronts. At times during my presentation she had a look of total bewilderment.
Anyway fast forward 6 weeks and I'd heard nothing. Then i received another poorly worded e-mail from an assistant in HR to say they weren't progressing my application any further. I was gutted from one angle as it was a great opportunity to create a full new department, but i also think i dodged a bullet with the way the company operates/treats people.MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0
