Why struggle just to give money to your kids at 18?

It never did me any harm to work for my own money.

Right, I've spent a few hours doing some research. buildings and contents is reduced by £10 per month.
Phones are reduced by a total of £20 a month
Life cover is reduced by at least £20/month, I have an IFA doing some sums for me as I type.
Mortgage is also being reviewed by IFA, along with the secured loan but I'm not holding out much hope for those.
SO to childrens accounts are frozen.
Going to enquire about insulation tomorrow.

On a mission now and quite enjoying the idea of cutting back.

I had nothing when I turned 18! And neither did my brother!! Quite a few of my friends didn't get a lump sum on turning 18.

i did and p1ssed it all away, obv i regret it now but its not the end of the world if they have nothing and i had no money sense at 18 anyway!

Ok, so I've got a plan as a starting point, thank you. I've also 'cruised' the boards and have a bit more drive to do this debt free malarky (it all seemed too much to acheive before).

But now I'm going to be saving money each month on my SOA, what do I do with it? Straight off the credit card (which is 0%) because that is the only debt we have that can be reduced bit by bit? Or do we put it in to a savings account to build up to pay a loan off? (Which would also mean that if we have an unexpected expense the money comes out of savings rather than put on a credit card).

Or do we live with half and save half...
