Hi I want to make some meatballs this weekend and wondered if anyone had a good recipe which includes making a nice rich gravy from scratch (I am useless at gravy making it terrifies me!!!). I'd quite like to use lamb mince and serve with some nice fresh green beans or similar.
Thanks in advance!

Hi wonderwife,
Lamb mince makes lovely meatballs. There's an earlier thread with lots of recipes to choose from so I'll add your thread to it later to keep the replies together.

Pink you are so efficient :A Again, links for everything :rotfl:Still can't think of a thread that nobody has come up with!
Anyway, here goes:
Lamb meatballs:
-Chop a small onion and a clove of garlic, put into a bowl with seasoning (salt, pepper and I like paprika)
-Add one pack of mince (no exact science!)
-Mix well then add a beaten egg and any herbs you like
-Get your hands in there to mix it properly
-Preheat the oven to 190c
-Using your hands form the meatballs to desired size
-Grease tray and place meatballs on deep baking tray and cook for approx 30 mins- untill browned
-Take meat balls from the tray and put into a bowl on the side
Gravy:
-Use the tray you cooked the meatballs in, put this on a hob ring on a low heat (extra flavour from juices)
-Add a knob of butter and a splash of red wine (or balsamic vinegar)
-Allow wine to evapourate
-Add 3 tbspn flour and whisk into a paste
-Add stock (or hot water and a stock cube!)
-Add and herbs and allow to reduce to desired consistency
-Drop in the meatballs and ensure they are well coated before serving with pasta etcEnjoy!
