Hi,
Lying in my pit this morning pondering the whole bankruptcy thing and sat bolt upright with the thought of them being able to take my little girls savings:eek: which have been growing in her account since she was born?
I am a trustee on both her accounts, will they freeze her money? she has over £1000 thanks to family memebers and us putting her birthday money etc... away. Thinking now it may have been better in one of them dodgy trust funds the government have set up.
Hope someone can help im pulling my last few stands of hair out worring now???????

I had the same worry - although my son had approx £400 pounds.
The OR wanted to see his savings book to show that although my name was on as trustee that it was indeed a childs account and his name was on it. It was frozen in the mean time, but they contacted me and said they had no interest in it and asked Abbey to unfreeze it.
I felt awful thinking his money might be at risk because of me, but it all ended up ok.
Maybe if there was absolutely thousands/millions etc it might look dodgy like you were hiding money, but I would think with your amount you will be in the same situation as I was.
Hope this helps you feel less stressed about it!0 -
No they won't. As long as you are just a trustee.
I was (am) joint trustee to over £20k for step daughter. I had to send in proof that it was in her name and I was a trustee though; did this using the yearly statement. As it was not my money they were not interested in the slightest.0
