What's wrong with my strawberries?

Could anyone tell me what is wrong with my strawberry plants? I am starting to harden them off in the garden before planting outside, but am getting a little worried about the leaves on some of the plants as they are going dry and brown. Is there anything I should do about this?

Sorry for the probably extremely amateur question, but it's all new to me!

That's quite normal, as long as new leaves are coming through, they will be ok.

When the leaves go completely brown , snip them off with scissors and throw in the bin or green composting bin, or burn them, you are not supposed to put them in the normal compost.

Disease apparently. I only know the theory, but after having lost a complete bed of strawberries to disease, it's something I'm ready to believe.

Phew! Thanks for that, was beginning to panic that I was doing something wrong and they were all dying! There is new growth so hopefully they'll be okay.

Mine do the same. I am relatively new to this too and my first strawberries went in last year - they are now taking over a huge non-hanging basket and all the new baby plants have taken super well in the soil nearby. I have been taking off all old leaves and there are loads of new shoots coming up now, they look so healthy, I can't wait to see if I get a good return this year! I had better with all the room they are taking up!!

If the lot is going brown with no signs of new growth just make sure the roots are anchored and well watered. If there are signs of new growth then they are fine.

About strawberries.... Mine are in a bed in the garden, and I just left them out all winter, along with some wee ones that I had potted up from 'suckers'(???). They seem to be quite happy out there, with lots of the leaves green, and only some brown ones. I will take the brown ones off now, but do you think they will do OK? I didn't have a greenhouse or anywhere to lift the lot to bring inside over winter.

I bought some strawberry plants yesterday in Aldi, they'd been reduced from £3.99 for 6, to £1.99.
Some had brown leaves but most looked quite healthy although a little dry, i watered them as soon as i got home and had planned planting them out today. Not sure whether to find some big pots or put in the ground..

Strawberries are hardy plants. Just trim off the brown leaves and leave them be.

Thanks. that's what I was hoping you would say. Phew! I have made some costly mistakes with other stuff, so it's nice to have done something right for once!
