We have been for a consultation with Bradford and Bingley a while ago (didn't buy a house at that point) and now we are looking to definitely go ahead with a mortgage. Anyone used B&B as a broker, and would you recommend them, or should we try finding an independent broker locally?

Although 'whole of market' they only have access to approx 20 UK lenders therefore cannot offer a full range of mortgage products froma cross the board.
Look at their Terms of Business Section 3.1

I think you will also find that they have decided to withdraw from acting as a broker and that you may end up having to find a new adviser in the future if you want to have the choice of more than one lender.
