Thinking about building an extension. The quotes have been through the roof and will only add about a third of the cost to the value of the house. Now looking at getting individual tradespeople and buying materials. Can anyone recommend suppliers of bricks, slates, insulation etc. Have phoned some trade places and they don't return calls don't seem to want to deal with the public. Preferable areas Lanarkshire and Glasgow.

Grants Builders Merchants have a good name for supplies & deliver for no extra.
Tradesmen: try the Polish ones advertising everywhere, they are keen for business & do a good job.
I have used local people but their attitude & work ethic is deplorable so I could not recommend any.
