Basic questions on bankruptcy on behalf of a friend

  • The first call is to make an appointment at CAB, i've been there and they are helpful, somtimes you have to put pride aside.
They went through all the options and after talking (which does help) i filed for bankrupcy, my mum paid for the fee after her shock in finding that i was in such a situation, loosing the house and all credit.
One year on and i am now in rented accom, basic Barclays Bank account and happy, no credit no cards and don'nt want any again.

Yep, and it needs to be dated within one month of the bankruptcy appointment. Prescribed benefits are: JSA, IS, income based ESA, pension guarantee credit and WTC but no CTC.

You'll need an EX160 and the notes are in the EX160A

My letter had to be within three months for IB x

    Hi

It's all set out in the EX160A. Incapacity Benefit isn't one of the benefits that gives you automatic remission. But the op's friend is on JSA so if she can get a letter dated within one month of the appontment, she'll be fine.
