Arrow Global Notice

Hey all,

Just had a notice of a debt apparently owed to a company named Arrow Global Limited (courtesy of Lloyds TSB).

Anyhow, I've not had any contact with Lloyds since 2001 / 2002, so believe this falls nicely under the "statute barred 6 years" thing.

Is there a link to any good letter templates? I've seen this one (**can't post links!!**) but I'm not sure I like the wording of paragraph 2, specifically
The last acknowledgement to this debt was made over six years ago and no further acknowledgement or payment has been made since that time

(whilst true, isn't this a bit defensive?)

Anyway, is this the best template to use?

The template i'm talking about is found around here showpost.html?p=30356327&postcount=23

The above is used by many people, statute barred is a legal defence and the letter is carefully worded to prevent you admitting any liability if it wasn't 6 years old.

Correct, unless a CCJ was awarded, but then, they still require permission from the court to enforce.

Ignore it until they write with further evidence.

  • Excellent stuff, thankyou.

Letter will be sent via recorded delivery tomorrow
  • Ok a quick update-

I sent the original "statute barred" letter on 26th Mar, recorded delivery. It has been received / signed for.

I received a phonecall from them last Friday (9th April) from a rude-sounding person, after refusing to give her my details such as address, postcode (for "security reasons") I hung up on them. They have not bothered to call since. Bit worried how they got my mobile number??

Today (12th April) I have received another notice of debt collection from Wescot. This one states to avoid further action, to either make the payment (in full) or call their number. Failure to do so will result in "further recovery action".

So, should the next step be to write to them again (including previous letter), and are there any good templates for the 2nd letter?

One thing to note is the only address they give is a PO Box for Wescot Credit Services Ltd, would this make a difference when writing to them?

Look further down the bottom of this post, 3rd template is "FORMAL COMPLAINT under the complaint procedures set out by the Financial Ombudsman."

Your basically claiming unlawful harassment for a statute barred debt after telling them it is statute barred and you will not pay it.

Keep a spreadsheet of your time / costs / anything which involves dealing with these muppets, this will allow you to issue a claim for your costs should the muppets not cease.
