They are only lending to homeowners at the moment at rates of around 35% APR.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I have been turned down by Tesco, Sainsburys & Marks & spencer, are there any mainstream lenders who would consider someone with a credit record showing a few late payments & a couple missed ones, I am wanting to pay off two of my cards to reduce my outgoings.

Hi, obviously with such a record you're likely to be looking at the high end interesst rates if you are accepted which makes the chance of reducing your outgoings unlikely. Also don't forget that applying for credit continuously actually hurts your rating and therefore your chances of gaining credit.

In general it's a bad idea to try and consolidate anyways, it jsut ends up costing you more in the long run
