I feel bad, in a non serious way.

Basically Guys and girls, its been a wierd old week.

I gave in to temptation and bought a new contract phone on 02 because I liked it. yes I could afford the £30 and gave in :( However, it comes with a 14 day money back pledge if you dont like it for whatever reason you can hand it back and cancel. I will feel embarrased going into the store to do it but hey, it saves me over £560 quid over the lifetime of the contract. :( I bet they wont take it back for some stupid reason. Here is hoping they will. Has anyone done this? Any advice ?

Secondly, the newly moved in GF was moaning she had no money :( so I sat down with her and I *think* gave her a light bulb moment Spendaholics style, ie imagine how many Radley handbags a month and driving lessons you could have if with that £600 per month after bills, and you paid off your phone and didnt have £1-200 phone bills every month.

So she is at least somewhat, if not fully onboard now :) She is already looking in autotrader for when she passes and has the cash in the bank to buy a little runaround

We worked out it only came to under £2000 in total, but the likes of Capital One and her managed loan where charging her > 25% interest (and she only ever paid the minimum) I dunno why I wrote this. Perhaps to show spendaholic partners can be helped :)

check terms and conditions before you go back to store and take them with you.

if you want to lead her to becoming a true mse you have to lead by example- stop putting yourself in position in first place- i like (and want) loads of things but won't buy them. just buy what you need. it's hypoctricial and more importantly will cause arguments if you say to her don't spend money on things you don't need and then go out yourself and do exactly what you're advising her not to do. does she know about this phone? don't say she is nagging/moaning etc- just be supportive and pull together.

because the story is inspirational and contains many worthwhile lessons for others- because we understand having the same perspective. you can still have a 'good' life without spending a fortune.

    Definitely take the phone back!!!

I know the let down/depressed feeling of buying something when you are on you DFW journey. I am almost at the end of mine and I still have not achieved pleasure when buying things. I wonder will it ever happen again? Oh well, never mind, good for me, bad for the economy.

Well done about girlfriend. Homer is right about leading by example.

Now, go back to that shop. Oh and by the way, you can always lie and say, "oh, my girlfriend brought me phone the same day and I no longer need this one." They will make it difficult, but don't bow down, just don't expect it to be easy.
