i'd definately agree with the post about redirecting your £100 savings to your debts and bills - and also the same as soon as you get paid -
in a way once its spent/paid on the bills it can't be spent here and then, but will be more useful0 -
Have you shopped around for mortgage insurance? I used to have mine for £25 per month. Do you actually need it? It usually pays out for a year. Personally after a while I figured that my job is secure, I have some savings so I'd take the risk.0

Thanks for the replies!
I need to changed our mortgage insurance, I've always thought it was high and have had lower quotes but never really understood them enough to be confident to change - but I think I'll sort that out tonight, when OH is out!
In regards to savings, this is being saved up as a back up fund, as my contract ends in March 2007 and the money being saved is there incase I don't get another job quick enough to cover the bills!
We set a food budget of £180 and spent £61 last night but this included a bottle of booze, a card and a book for someones birthday this wednesday!) The food will last us 2 weeks we suspect:T
I paid £200 off the cards last night and when OH gets paid I'm gonna pay the lloyds card off and middle of the month, I'm gonna try and pay another £100 off the NSPCC one! OH has agreed that £1000 of his overtime, instead of going into savings can be paid off the credit cards and we're gonna stick to £250 a month payments, with extra payments when we can! We aim to have the cards paid off my 31st March 2007 so then we only have 2 more of his car payments and then we're debt free!:T
The spending diary is working well for me! I spent 99p yeaturday from my £10 weekly budget (another new thing!) but that was to send a ebay item so not strictly "my" spending!:o

If you're making extra payments on the plastic, make sure that you snowball - pay the extra off the highest interest rate card first. You'll save more in the long run. Also if the Lloyds card is now clear, what BT rate do they offer? If it's lower than what you're currently paying then there's an additional saving there.

Thank you AA, LloydsTSB now paid off and the remainder of the debt is on the HBOS charity card which is 0% until March 2007 (aiming to have debt cleared before this runs out!)
Though through this site I snowballed until I got a new 0% card with a big enough balance to transfer all the debt onto:T
£251.13 paid off the cards this month:j
