One of the guys who works for me at work is emigrating to France next week and i am trying to make him a leaving gift. i thought a french survival kit/hamper might be a good idea but i am racking my brians at what to put in it!!!... So far all i can think of is a french phase book and an emergency euro coin. Has anyone got any ideas - all comments gratefully received:D

How about some English stuff that may be hard to track down in France? A jar of Marmite, tin of Heinz baked beans, bottle of their favourite British beer, a Fawlty Towers or Dad's Army DVD?0

Some jars of Marmite, some gravy granules, Branston pickle, Cheddar cheese,That should remind him not to come back. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Heinz baked beans are expensive in France (expensive for my budget anyway)
Would travel adaptors be any good for when they first get to France for any electrical items they have... An extension lead with space for four English plugs has been my saviour as it means only needing one French adaptor.
If they like Salt & Vinegar crisps, they are a must have as my friend is missing them lots!
Maybe a DVD of typical English life so they don't forget where they're from?
Tea bags are good, especially as they're light if weight is an issue, although if he's emigrating, he may have more luggage allowance than what I had.
A map of France maybe? So he can plan visits home and in case the French public transport is on strike.... Again.
There are so many things I miss but right now I can't think other than lined paper and decent BBQ sauce.
I like the idea of a phrase book, maybe you could pick up a pocket size dictionary too?
I'll try and think for some better ideas, do you know which part of France he's moving to?0
