Seems the op didn't download ccleaner but in fact a sponsored ad on the same download page - the ccleaner download button is on the right side of the page, as shown here viewed in IE with no ad blocking:

But when viewed in Firefox..looks like this:

    ccleanerfirefox.jpg

It's an easy mistake to make though, lots of these free download sites feature sponsored program downloads with a much more prominent download button that misdirect the downloader.

One last question...will I be better running microsoft essentials antivirus etc rather than avast ???

    Well according to this ~

    Theres very little in it
That said its the PAID for version of Avast thats reviewed so that would point to MSE being the better product

Im still waiting for them to do a 'pro active' test before I decide myself personally. I have a feeling it will perform quite poorly in those (The act of 'guessing' a virus is a virus if its not already in the database)

That's why it's best to choose the Slim version of CCleaner at the bottom of the CCleaner Builds page, and because it does not include the Yahoo toolbar...

The format for the URLs of the Builds pages for Defraggler and for Recuva is very similar.
