Can anyone help, please?
I bought some new plastic food savers and the packet said they needed to be washed before using. They are 'dish-washer safe' so I popped them in the top rack, but stupidly, so stupidly, left a pan in the bottom rack that had contained spag bol....
Now my new food containers have a lovely orange glow. They are not dirty, just stained!
I bought them to take dips and crudites to work, so don't want to use anything strong to clean them. So, is there anything I can do to restore them, or should I just accept their fate and not be so stupid next time???...

Sorry to be a downer, but I've tried bleach, Stardrops and several other cleaners, and the stuff's still orange. Rather irritating, but you soon learn to rinse off any tomato-based stuff if plastic's in the dishwasher.0

Not necessarily. This was discussed last week (I think) and I suggested leaving the stained containers out in the sun (I'd read it somewhere) and promptly went off to do so. My lids are great (just like new), the bowl bits are going to need longer than the couple of days I gave them but are much improved. I turn containers orange with alarming regularity.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

Excellent! Well worth a try - my dishes are fine, it is the flimsier lids that have taken the dye.... though just my luck that we're due rain for a couple of days!0

Hi
Long learned to accept this - my childrens teats for their bottles were always orange!0 -
Soak them overnight in a diluted solution of Milton, then wash again in DW without spag bol this time (!) works every time0

or a solution of bicarb soda and water0

UPDATE:
Well, I was just about to try the 'leave em out in the sun' method, when the sun went in in my area... and it hasn't really been back out since.
I tried bicarb and water but it had no real effect.
So I decided just to get on with using them as they were.....:p
And now, a month (and about 3-4 uses and dishwashes) later:
Drumroll....FANFARE.... TA-DAAAA!!!! :j
I was sitting outside eating lunch today and noticed that my tupperware lid wasn't orange anymore.... Don't know when it happened but they seem to have righted themselves just in the course of everyday use! :T
On the other hand, I put a really good quality clip-lock tub in the dishwasher on the weekend, with nothing vaguely orange in sight... or so I thought! Now it looks as if it has been well and truly Tango'd.... :rolleyes:0
