Hello!
I have been around for a while now and enjoy reading the forums.
A few weeks ago our cars head gasket went, we could not afford to repair it so sold it, alas we lost a lot sofmoney on it, I dont really want to think how much as it has gone now
however it has left me without our main car and a family of 7...
Anyway, we then sold another car ( we did have 3) and i have this small amount of money burning a hole, I really want to replace the big car as without it I cant take my 5 child anywhere, unless we can walk there, I cant take a bus or trian as its too much stress with a double buggy, which means that I feel really rubbish not being able to take my children out over the holidays and we are not going away either.
However for the amount of cash I have I would end up with a pile of poo of a 7 seater and I would really like to pay the money towards the cc which would be a good dent in what we owe. If I were to pay this money towards the cc then over time I would like to pay off our cc, but its going to be so hard as we dont have any spare cash at all ( will be visiting money saving old style!
I love my kids and would so love to have some money to treat them but I cant as I just dont have the pennie spare right now. However if i manage to one day pay off cc, then I could manage to pay off the loan we have too.
Ahh I guess I just really wish we had a bigger car so I could take the kids out, but I would so love to be debt free, that would free up so much money each month for me to spend on the kids, its just all so hard! Im not sure if I am doing the right thing at all:(
Feel free to totally ignore this self pittying post:p

i personally think the best thing to do is pay it off your cc. yes like you say you won't be able to take the kids out anywhere, but there are heaps of things you could do in you rown house that count as quality time with them. i think there are threads elsewhere on this site on free/cheap things to do for the hols.
you'll save heaps not having the extra cars with less petrol, road tax's, insurance and any money spent on repairs. this means your debt will be cleared quicker and you may be able to get finance at an affordable rate to get the nice 7 seater and you'll be able to afford the day trips then too.0 -
umm...tricky & in those winter months you may lve to regret being cooped up with 4, I assume young, children...could you not compromise, get a cheapie one (like an old Volvo?) & pay some off CC? The advantage of paying stuff off is that you'll have less stress...got to benefit all of you?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! why do you need 3 cars?( we did have 3)
can you buy one of those pushchairs where one child sits in front and one at the back not side by side.cant take a bus or trian as its too much stress with a double buggy,
how old are chlidren? why not just take them on a picnic, for a walk, to park- somewhere close where you can all walk.I love my kids and would so love to have some money to treat them but I cant as I just dont have the pennie spare right now. Wouldn't you have been better off selling the "spare" car & using that money to repair the cylinder head on the main car, rather than selling both, the main one at a loss, then going out & buying another?0
