I have a horrible sinking feeling it will be something like 'make £20k a year by selling online courses at £2500 a pop on how to make £20k a year'.

No it's not, you can get into it in a second. You don't need to do a course or be certified or anything, you just have to decided you want to be an internet marketer. There are no exams to take and no experience necessary.

All you need is the ability to tell people a pack of lies to get money out of them and you're off. You just find some information that is freely available on the web, then tell people this information will make them a fortune, all they have to do is pay you for it and they will make millions.

I found a penny in the street today, and even though it is burning a hole in my pocket, I would not bet it on you being wrong.

Internet Marketing, the art of selling people nothing by getting them so interested in it they are willing to pay just to find out what it is.
  • Hi,

I think your friend is probably better off loading up on Dummies type marketing & business books.

The trouble is these things sound good but in reality amount to nothing with any value.

    Best of luck.

I think there are far too many gullible people unfortunately who fall for this sort of thing.

Probably only one making that money is the owner selling lies as others suggested
  • Perhaps she means affiliate marketing where you have a site with links to other websites and make money through these links. I think it's very competitive and difficult to make money from.

I tend to agree that your friend is likely to be helping make someone else £20k per course, rather than 20K per year her self.

On a side note, a large amount of my work is 'Internet Marketing' though i have to describe it as digital promotion or similar due to the negative association with scammers!

I am currently helping promote a 50+ years established furniture manufacturer through direct deals with various online media outlets, and its honest hard work that certainly could not be learned in an afternoon!

I wrote a short step by step course in 'easy' internet marketing here:

If anyone wants to send me 2.5K pm me for my paypal address!

    lol.

    Another tip:
Remember to keep abreast of technology, what works now, will look embarrassingly out of date in say, 5 years!

Seriously though, advertising your own product / site is not allowed on MSE.

Keeping abreast of technology is fine - but there is a real market out there for computers from the 1980s !!

Oh right - I wondered what happened to my post !!
