high street diabetic easter eggs - help me find some!

Can anyone help me find anywhere on the high street that sell diabetic easter eggs? I need several as work in a care home and all the residents get an easter egg at easter.
Only ones i have found so far are in Thortons and they are £7.50 for a quite tiny one! I have looked in Tescos, Boots, Sainsburys, Asda, Holland and Barrat and Morrisons and no where stocks them.
Obviously if i cannot find them elsewhere i will buy from thortons, but it just seems SO expensive and will take a huge chunk of my easter food budget.

Diabetic Specialists recomend that diabetics don't eat diabetic chocolate. Although it is reduced sugar it still contains carbohydrate and therefore still raises blood sugar levels. Plus it can give them wind!!! It is far better to just have a small piece of ordinary chocolate which is also a quater of the price. Don't waste your money.
Speak to anyone who knows anything about diabetes and they'll confirm I'm right.

get some diabetic chocolote a cheap easter egg mould and make your own easy to wrap and decorate cheaper in the long run if you need to make a few im sure there are other staff in the care home who could help you too, you dont have to be crafty to pour chocolate into a mould:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

Yes i agree that's what my consultant says too. He always says a little normal chocolate is better than diabetic chocolate. Diabetic chocolate can give you the runs due to the ammount of sweetners too.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Thank you for everyones suggestions- i do appreciate the advise on the non-diabetic chocolate side, but it is my manager who is insisting that the diabetics MUST have diabetic eggs and i cant go against his wishes-but thank you for your suggestions. I know we have a couple of diabetics who can eat small amounts of chocolate therefore they are getting half a normal small egg each, so not sure if the insistance on special eggs for the other 3 is due to the severity/type of diabeties they have etc.
Think i will go for the idea of melting down diabetic choc and making my own, as this will work out much cheaper.0 -

I know Boots do diabetic choc, not sure if they have it in eggs though.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

I know OP said the manager has insisted on giving them diabetic chocolates (even though it will give them the runs?!) how abt dark chocolate? I'm diabetic and have no problems at all eating dark chocolate (minimum 80% ones) whereas can't tolerate any 'normal' milk chocolate cos of the sugar in them obviously. would the manager accept dark chocolate as opposed to diabetic chocolate? good 80% and higher dark chocolate have very minimal amount of carbs/sugar in it, I would say its better tasting than diabetic chocolate by miles and wouldn't give anyone the runs. you can always look at the chart on the label stating how much carbs content it has, not just the carbs that sugars mind, the total carb content is the right figure to look at. good luck in finding something that doesn't break the budget too much :-)0
