No more tesco

Was in tesco last night and had a right bother at the till. I know tesco wont just scan any coupon at my local store so i always buy the product. We'd done a fourty pound shop and i offer a 1 pound off voucher for any uncle bens product i had bought a uncle bens sweet and sour sauce figured there would be no problem. The cashier looked and inspeceted the voucher and said you haven't bought this. I said i had, she then began checking the reciept and said no u haven't bought it. So i had to dig through my bagged shopping to find the sauce and show it too her and then she accepted voucher. All the time people in the que are getting impatient and looking at me as if it was my fault. Then i handed over a 10 tesco money card which had ten pound on,i said thats got 10 pound on. She asked what is it?. It clearly says tesco moneycard on it i was sent it from tesco it wasn't like i'd made it myself and she said never seen it. She called some else over they'd never seen one before so had to call someone else all the time people are looking at us and my boyfriend started getting embrassed but i knew i was right. Anyway got my ten pound off then paid for the rest in luncheon vouchers which she scanned each voucher instead of the going through as a total as they are non scan. Took ages at the till and i saw her pulling faces to the people in que as if it was my problem and as we left heard her say sorry for wait but in a way that it was directed at me. I was so mad i will no longer shop with tesco after this as i have no need to, asda is just as near to me, think they might be slightly cheaper and staff are really friendly and will accept coupons. I'm upset now that i've been giving tesco my custom for so long.

Asda is a much, MUCH better store. Believe me.Only when the last tree has died
and the last river has been poisoned
and the last fish has been caught
will we realise we cannot eat money0 -
I would write to the store manager, or phone them, and complain. There's obviously a clear need for staff training in their store regarding the moneycard, and she was out of order being rude about your coupon.0

if sainsburys deliver in your area give them a go,
i shopped at tescos for over 15 yrs but not any more,
i save £10 most week in multisaves, the multisaves are on every day foods not the junk tescos savings are on.
also sainsburys have 1hr delivery slots and if they are late you will get phone call telling you an estimate delivery time, then the driver will give you a £10 e-voucher off your next shop.....
tescos give nothing for being late except for a delivery driver with attitude....0 -
paid for the rest in luncheon vouchers
I agree I would definately write to the manager or head office. Incidentally what are luncheon vouchers??
Cheers

lunchon vouchers are vouchers which can be used in a number of food places mcd's, burger king, kfc, also can be spent in tescos, asda, icelands, many more.
i get paid in lunchon vouchers for doing online surveys with pinecone..0 -
I would write to the manager too. If you have kept the receipt, it should have the member of staff's name on it. She is working in a customer service role and, as such, should behave in an acceptable manner. The manager would definitely want to know if the staff are behaving in this way.0

After my experiences with Tesco lately I can sympathise. I was refused the use of some vouchers at my local store, next time I was asked very pubically if I had complained to Tescos, the 3rd visit I was literally followed around the store. I have emailed Tesco Cs and spoke to them and they have been very understanding. My local store are aware of my complaint but to date no reply has been received. I have also written to the top brass at Tescos and they have acknowledged my letter.
Yesterday, I did a £100 shop did not use any money off vouchers and only handed over point vouchers, the cashier then preceeded to get a supervisor to check to see if I could actually use them !!! I was mortified and told them to check my receipt but like yourself I was aware of people watching.
I have said to OH I am going to shop at Morrisons but like he says I haven't done anything wrong.
Welshy xI am the only Voucher Queen in my village LOL

thanks everyone for posting i think i'll dig out my reciept and write a letter today. I'm still not going to shop there i don't want them to get a single penny from me.For thousands of people this Christmas, their must-have gift is far more vital than the latest gadget or toy – it’s blood. My cards are now marked at Tesco too (so I sympathise with you WelshDragon). I had some extra points to use today and some money off vouchers - all for products that I had bought.
Whilst I was waiting in the queue the check out operator who was serving the person in front of me actually left her till (mid serving somebody) to go and tell the supervisor that I was there. She looked so daft, just like a school kid running over the tell the teacher.
The supervisor came over with her and told her to sit down again and just get on with serving and the supervisor said I would be better going to the next till as that was now clear.
I put my shopping through and then handed over the vouchers (again, they were all valid and all for products I had bought), the woman on the check out called a supervisor over to come check (different supervisor to the first one) and the woman on the till next to her (that had previously 'run off' to tell) was going mad and really trying to catch the attention of the original supervisor. All the time ignoring the customer she was serving off course.
She literally reached over and prodded the new supervisor to come talk to her, which she did, lots of whispering (literally, whispering to each other).
This was all quite funny by now.
Supervisor came back to my till and said I could not use all the vouchers as they had to be used in seperate transactions. I said fine, we will cancel this transaction and put everything through as individual transactions (I originally suggested this to the check out operator but she told me to put them all through together to save time), she told me I would have to go to customer services to do that so I told her I wouldn't be paying for the shopping (politely) and left the store.
By this time both check out operators were going mad and all whipped up into a frenzy, 2 supervisors trying to look calm but clearly enjoying all the action, then the till got closed down so the check out operator could put everything back on the shelf!
The really sad thing about this was that I had bought all the products so was not abusing the system at all (on this occassion!!!!!).
I went to Asda on the way home instead. Spent £35 (they ARE def cheaper than Sainsburys and Tesco), gave the guy some vouchers (this time for products I had not bought), asked him how many he would take and explained they all expired today. He took the lot, smiled and gave me over £20 off my shopping!
Think I will be avoiding Tesco for a while now!0
