Are there any girls in the cub scouts in scotland?

Options
My daughter is bored with brownies. She is a bit of a tomboy and says cubs sounds like much more fun and she wants to go to cubs instead.
So I looked into it as I thought it was just for boys and see that they do let girls in.There are no girls in cubs in my area though and I was just wondering if anyone has a daughter in cubs in Scotland.

Erskine has a (girl) scout troop.
Why not write to the Scout Assn..?

Wish I’d thought of that as a kid. I didn’t mind Brownies but hated guides, and was also a real tomboy. Scouts would have been much more fun.

I have 2 older daughters both of whom went through brownies and guides and one now volunteers as a rainbows leader. My Son (11) is at scouts (has done beavers & cubs with girls) and there are four or five girls in his troop and they go to camp more often and do more sporty things than my girls did. They get their own tent but other than that just muck in with the boys. I never new it was an option at the time my girls went or I would have considered it. My son is the only one in his class to go to scouts though as it's not seen as as cool as football training (some of his friends go five nights a week), by the dads at least.

Sorry - just seen this - blame the newbie:o
My daughter, now aged 13, joined the Cubs aged 8 then moved up to Scouts. Her troop is quite unconventional, being about 40/60 boys and girls but they have a lot of fun and seem to concentrate on games and activities as opposed to garnering arms of badges!
Now that my daughter is older, she is working towards her Zodiac Award, which means that, weather permitting, she goes off camping once a month overnight - she is off tomorrow for 2 nights. She loves it, has made lots of friends and looks forward to the annual week-long summer camp in the Lake District.

I was in the rainbows then the brownies and finally the guides when I was younger.

I knew some people in my area went to the girls brigade. Don't know how different it is though. Here's the sites for both:

My younger daughter is/was interested in activities that are more stereotypically male and joined the Scouts at 12 (I think). She had a wonderful time - camping (putting up their own tents and doing own cooking), target shooting, orienteering, abseiling, etc. and even went on a two week camp to Norway. She was the second girl to join the troop but soon after several girls joined. She eventually moved on to Air Cadets and loved flying and all the macho team building stuff they do.

Encourage your daughter to join the Scouts. It's a fantastic opportunity, especially for girls who enjoy outdoor activities.

Hi there, my daughter is the only girl beaver in this area and there is one girl in the cubs. It's been excellent for Sarah and would wholeheartedly encourage you to put your daughter forward.
