Woolwich Mortages

Has anybody else had any problems with the Woolwich - we were going to change our mortgage to them but the offer fell through. They took £200 out of our current account on the 2nd February, this is meant to be getting returned to us but nearly two months later we are still waiting. We have been in regularly to try to find out when we are getting it back, everytime we go in we are just getting fobbed off - "get someone to call back" "the money will be in your account in 10 days" "it will be in within 24 hours"
Every excuse in the book but still no sign of our money!!!!
(sorry about the title - I am so angry if affected my spelling)

Typical Woolwich service I am afraid..........0

What was the £200 for, I was under the impression that they had up front fees, it you pull out you still pay, Nationwide is £99.
A lot of brokers are avoiding this.0 -
This is a fee payable if you don't proceed and is non refundable. This should have been pointed out in writing as part of the illustration and offer if you got that far.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0

the withdrawel fee is £150 so i think someone is telling porkies. Go to who did your mortgage whether it be broker or barclays. If its broker get them to find out for you. If its barclays ask to speak to the manager of the person you dealt with, if you are unable ask to raise a formal complaint.0 -

This is quite correct, my apologies.
Double check who debited your account and check your illustration for any mention of the fee. Woolwich do not currently have any fees that are £200 (according to their tariff).Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -

and as you said it will have a withdrawel fee on the kfi.
this can be for failing to give the correct information, whether it be intentional or not. If unintentional but it effects you getting a mortgage than that is the applicants fault, unless they can prove someone fudged the figures.
My guess is undisclosed commitments. I'll have a fiver on it.
queue 'well i'm not paying those off so i didn't think you needed to know about it'.
i could be totally wrong though:)0 -
It was for fee's, the reason that we didnt go through with the mortgages was because once we paid the £200 they decided that the fee's were going to go up to £1000 which there was no way we could afford it. Checked bank account this morning & still no sign of it coming back. I'll check my bank statement to see who it was that took the money but I'm sure it was Woolwich.0

First of all I'm not sure what the £200 charge was for. As far as I am aware there are no application fees payable.
The £150 is chargeable if you decide not to proceed with the mortgage that you had applied for. If the Woolwich have changed the arrangement fees since you applied for a mortgage, the change will not affect you.
I think you need to give us the full (clear) facts as I think we are missing some information!0 -

i think my sisters shared ownership mortgage was with woolwhich. they appear to provide a pretty good no stress service, very straight forward.
i assume the mortgage only fell through because you backed out and it was not them?0
