If you are at the bottom of the ladder the Tories will make sure you stay there.
Yes - and if you are at the top of the ladder the Tories will make sure you don't slip. But then Labour has been doing this since 1997, so what's the difference?
If I vote at all it will be for the BNP. It's the only party that wants to change anything of significance.0 -

Given that under Labour the gap between the richest and poorest has got worse, social mobility has reduced and job opportunities have shrivelled how will the Tories be any worse (without trotting out the usual lies from the bunker).
those at the bottom are actually better off in real terms though. and those things that are shared wealth (education and national health service) have also improved. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

The Electoral Reform Society calculates that there are 382 MPs who are in safe seats and virtually have a job for life. It must be frustrating to know that no matter how you vote in those seats it will have no effect !Good system eh!

Wait. So the bottom is better than ever but the gap to 'the next level' is larger than ever?
Well there's a damning indictment of the state we are in.
What you are effectively saying is the bottom has been made nice and comfy (relatively speaking) so to bother trying to better yourself through work is an option rather than a necessity. However, if you do decide to try to better yourself your 'right' to benefits erode and the extra gain is diminished to the point you figure out it's not worth trying.
It's almost like the Lion king and the 'Circle of Life'......except with the word 'Life' replaced by 'Systemic Generational Benefit Dependancy'.
Edit - the response below was classy though Ninky - like it.

If we escape the double dip then this economic crisis will have caused considerably less damage than the recession of the early 1980s which was deliberately worsened by government policy leading to mass unemployment and many good companies going to the wall as well as lame ducks. Unfortunately we no longer have the same income from North Sea oil and gas to help clear up the mess.0 -

As we sit here watching a national debt - that could have been paid off by North Sea oil - grow, with borrowing to pay interest on the former borrowing.
Every man woman & child is going to be lumbered with a crushing debt because the country and its future has all been mortgaged.
For the young the choice is emigrate/emigrate/emigrate (Australia or Canada).
Ladder, what ladder? Ah a rope ladder down into one of the life boats.
So what is safe: Education? NHS? Foreign Aid ?! Trident????!!!! the first 2 - 3% of 20% VAT going to the un audited European accounts (definitely).
