Sorry Tiff, SMT is the Senior Management Team in school - it consists of the headteacher and some of the other staff who have additional responsibilities, and the team depends on the size of the school.
The reason I asked this is that they are ultimately responsible for the safeguarding and wellbeing of the children in their care, and as the school are responsible for the after school club, they are also responsible for this. That's why I then asked about policies and the other stuff.0 -
They keep their policies close to their chest lol, I'm not involved in any of their decision making and they never ask my opinion on anything so I have no idea what their policies are but will be asking the questions.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

their policies should be freely available to both parents and staff, IMO. I had a whole pack of information to give to new parents, and even more went to staff. I'm not sure how much parents ever read, but at least they couldn't say they hadn't been told ...They keep their policies close to their chest lol, I'm not involved in any of their decision making and they never ask my opinion on anything so I have no idea what their policies are but will be asking the questions.
I think the approach to take is that you want to work with the SMT to make the club even more successful, and in order to do this, you would like to be included in planning and policy. Even if you are not sufficiently qualified technically for a senior post, you could hopefully demonstrate that you're senior material - if that interests you. And you have a number of suggestions for 'growing' the club, but they all depend on there being at least two adults present! And here are your suggestions for recruiting volunteers ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
