Non Collection Of Payments

I have had a loan with First Plus since Jan 2004.
In Nov 2007 I was made redundant and struggled for a while with payments. In May 2008 I came to an agreement to make full payment and cover arrears, in June 2008 a direct Debit was set up to take payments.
Since then the only correspondance/communication I have received are two legally required notices under the customer credit act and an annual statement.
The first legally required notice showed on page 1 arrears outstanding, this was followed by a "valued customer" statement, showing no outstanding arrears, and finally on the 1/11/2009 a further leagally required, which on page 1 shows arrears of £0.00, and on page 2 arrears of £2805.30.
Yesterday after being refused a job in the financial sector because of my credit report I checked experian.
First Plus are a long red scar showing six months or more of outstanding payments for the last two years.
On checking my bank statement I found that they had not collected a single payment since June 2008.
First Plus have commented "it is my responsibility to ensure that they receive payments”, and that “the statements sent show any arrears outstanding”.
I agree I should have paid more attention to this account, but the lack of communication form First Plus staggers me, when I missed my first payment in 2007 I was getting 2-3 phone calls a day + letters from various debt control companies.
What can I do to fix things?

Not much you can do other than pay them. Shame they noticed the lack of payments eh?;)We are born wet, naked, and hungry. Then things get worse.
