Recycling old mattress

Is there a green way to recycle/dispose of old mattresses?

I've just had a new mattress after my old one gave up the ghost. It's really knackered and not good enough to freecycle.

Are there any companies that recycle old mattresses?

I think some council dumps actually take old mattresses apart, then put the different parts in the repective recycling skips

Two girls down the road have a trampoline in the garden. I wonder if people such as this could use mattresses around the trampoline as a safety buffer in case they fall off?
