Equidebt!

Furious!

I had a person call me on my from Equidebt limited today (I pay them £234.00 per month for an old Natwest debt) and he does the normal security check and says "is it ok to talk?" I say that it would be better if he called after work as I was right in the middle of something. He says "so could I just ask you a few more questions" and I hesitantly agree once again saying "I'm not able to increase my payments by more than £10 as my situation hasn't changed, I have not had an increase nor have I got any additional savings since the last time we spoke!".

He launches into his collections patter by saying "well Natwest have handed this debt to us and we do need to clear it as fast as you possibly can as it is better for you in the long run!". I totally understand this and I wouldn't be struggling my !!! off to pay them £234 a month, every month if I didn't! And he then starts his "review" questions... all of which I could have answered fully if I a) had the time b) wasn't sitting in an office full of people overhearing my converstation and finally c) if he'd listened when I said I couldn't really discuss anything at this time! I had offered to call them back when I had my SOA in front of me to give accurate details not once, but 3 times in the conversation and yet he persisted in asking me the questions I had already told him I wasn't able to answer at that time. I fobbed him off with the wrong income and expenditure and debt information and then lost my temper with him when he said "so from what you are telling me, you have approximatly £400.00 over after paying nothing to no one every month? Why can't you increase your payments?"

I just need advice on what to do next - I've always sung Equidebts praises because they have been very fair with my situation and have in the past had compassion when doing these reviews every 3 months and I think that this call has totally brought me down.

I started this journey 16 months ago with more than £12000 of debt... and now I'm so proud of myself for paying of all but 2 of the debts (£3800 for Natwest and £141 for LB Havering) on the list below (haven't filled in my sig for ages!) and they've now put such a downer on my high!

Ring THEM and tell them about the way this idiot kept on at you, ask for his name. Then offer to take them through the correct figures proving that you are currently doing all you can.

If you dont do this you will probably continue to get calls. easier to knock it on the head now, but register your feelings about the idiot with them.

You are within your rights to give them times during which you must NOT be called and also to insist that communication should only be made in writing.

  • It just angered me that I'm working my butt off to ensure I make the payment on time and in full and this company is demanding that I increase my payments!

To top it all off today, I've just checked my bank account and it's £13 in the red - my standing order I cancelled after the last payment on my Link debt (for New Look) still came out today! Grrrr! Hopefully they'll give me a refund! Had to borrow £25 from my husband until I get paid on Thursday!

You can force them to stop ringing you at work, hopefully getting it done in writing will be more suitable.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
