Will I have to pay twice?

Our current mortgage is with Abbey, the next payment is due 1st Aug. We are remortgaging to get a better deal, this completes on 2nd Aug. I understand that this first payment will be around £600 rather than the normal £400.

Will I have to pay Abbey on the 1st then Britannia on 2nd or will the Abbey payment be cancelled now?

Sorry to butt in on the thread, but if someone could also answer my question would be great...

We're moving from our current house to buy another house. The current house is taken from my bank account on the 5th of each month (so next would be August). We are moving into a new house around the 20th August. We asked for the new mortgage to come out on the 1st of the month. So what I want to know is, will I have to pay the full amount from 5th August till 20th August for my current house? Will the first mortgage amount be taken on the 20th August for new house? Or the 1st of September, or one on both?!

Any help gratefully accepted. Hope you don't mind me butting in chelltune, but they are both on same topic

Any overpayment made should be refunded by the lender.
