I agree with other posters who said that you and your wife need to work as a team and look at this together.
I think you need to factor in her earnings. I don't know what she might earn - maybe £15 per hour? And maybe work 10 hours per week? That would be another £600 per month (less tax) to bring into your budget, so if you could keep your food shopping down to £300-£400 per month, there would be a good amount left to work with. The danger is that if you don't work together, she might assume that what's left in her purse is hers to spend, and it might get frittered away.
My figures are probably way off, but do you see what I'm getting at?0 -
I do see what your getting at £15 an hour I wish - maybe £6 if she is lucky. Which if she does four shift of 4 hours each we (16 hours) she will earn approx 96 a week. Thats if a) the shifts are available b) she is not at the hostpial and c) if we can get child care for these hours.
I think when she qualifies in around 6 months time and gets a nice NHS job then things will become much easier - but until then its just pinch here and there.0 -
Having taken advice from above I have just sold my first item on ebay - it may only be for £6 but its £6 I didnt have!
only another 40k to go! :rolleyes:0 -

Great news!!!! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

Just a tiny update my situation.
After selling £13.50 on email in 3 days, a sale a day is not to bad just need to increase the values!
I was offered at work a new mobile contract - which work pays for, which basically means I can loose my contract mobile somewhere and save £25 a month! whooo hooo.
I phone all my utility companies and got meter readings for the last year so I can do comparisons and I at the moment I am on a good rate. We just need to kerb the usage, so the TV is not left on when I am out of the room etc.
I have also got some extra work - which will take a little while to complete but is worth 5k initially plus extas.
Given I have had items returns and late payments on cards etc I have also starting looking at reclaiming the charges, which so far is just over 3k.
So even though my debt has significantly gone down yet I am feeling better that in a few months almost 10k maybe gone, then hopefully that is just enough breathing space to really make serious in roads into the rest of the debt.0 -
Good for you!
Once you took your head out the sand :0) you have done a great job of reducing your debts!
The ebay sales maybe small but a few a week can soon add up, its money you don't miss as well. Good luck, it sounds like its turning around for you!
£10k in a few months will have been a fantastic result!0
