Just some info for anyone who buys Uno

You need to use fresh pods that have not expired. Poundland and 99p Store sometimes have Senseo pods in stock which can apparently be confidently used with the Uno machine. However, I'd say be careful - the Senseo pod is larger than the Uno and needs to be scrunched up to fit the Uno holder. It may leak sometimes, don't be surprised if results are sub-standard using a Senseo pod.

The Uno pods are hard to find now, perhaps impossible. I think they are 50mm or 52mm across, Senseo etc are bigger and slightly different design (not as rigid as a java pod). I am told that Tesco and Sainsbury own brand pods also fit, but I suspect they too are larger than Uno java pods.

You can't make a proper cup of tea with the Uno using a round teabag, it is not brewed, does not taste right.

If you have quality pods, you can make a good coffee. It may seem not quite hot enough if you add milk, so pre-heat the milk or cup with hot water. This is common to other makes also.

You can buy adapters to fit the Uno and allow other pods. See easypods.co.uk (I am not a customer of theirs, cannot comment on price or any other aspect)

If you find the Uno powers on but red on light flashes rapidly, it means unit has no water in it or thinks it doesn't. Check that the cone and black square or oblong sensor are in place within the water reservoir - this tells the machine when it has water inside. it's a black square or oblong thing and goes into a larger clear cone-shaped thing with slots, it sits on a nipple at the bottom of the interior of the reservoir. If it has come away or been lost, the unit will not function. It should be put back in place into the water reservoir if you have it - the oblong sensor is about 2cm long and the white/clear cone about 3.5cm long, they are essential to the unit - don't buy a unit unless they're included.

Do not do any repairs to the machine yourself and unplug from mains when checking anything!

A slow flashing red light means the unit is warming up. Once the light stays on you can select a small cup or mug and with a pod inside, away you go!

Good coffee if you have good pods of the right size or with an adapter. Otherwise, best avoided.
