Cancel an Amazon Order

Options
I ordered a digital camera from Amazon yesterday only to find to my dismay that they've lowered the price this morning by £10. I went to cancel my order, however it seems it's already started the dispatch process.

Can anyone advise me if amazon provide free postage and packaging to return goods as I'm tempted to order another camera at the new price and simply return the first one I ordered when I receive it. Obviously this would only be worth doing so if the cost of sending the camera back was less then £10.

My other option is to complain to amazon about the price drop and see if they'll refund me the difference. Has anybody ever tried doing this with any success?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. If this is the wrong board please feel free to move to the appropriate place.

Amazon do not refund your postage to send the item back, nor do they refund the price you paid them to send it to you. As this adds up to at least £7.00 (given their average postal cost) I'd leave it.

    Thanks for the info.

    >:( Just a bit gutted, as if I'd waited I could have ordered the camera today, paid for next day delivery and had the camera tomorrow for less than the total cost I've paid.

    From the Amazon website:

Items returned within the seven-day cooling off period

By law, customers located in the European Union also have the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within seven working days of the day after the date the item is delivered. For more information see Your Statutory Rights.

Where you are withdrawing from your purchase within the seven working day cooling-off period, and there has been no error on our part, we will refund the cost of the item and the cost of sending the item to you as follows:

where you are returning an item that was part of a larger order, we'll refund the per-item charge for delivery that you incurred
where you are returning an entire order, we'll refund applicable per-item delivery charges and the per-delivery charge that you incurred
we will refund only standard (Airmail) postage charges for items delivered outside the UK
We will not refund the cost of giftwrapping, delivery and other services provided to you in connection with your purchase unless you return the item to us because of an error on our part or because it is defective

So it seems that they will refund the cost of postage to you, but you will still have to pay return postage. It probably isnt worth the hassle. For full details see: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/1161018/ref=w_h__brbx_c_2_0/026-6607619-7354063
