Discharged Bankrupt and debts abroad

Hi There,
This is a tricky one I think but I hope someone can shine some light. I was discharged from Bankruptcy in July 2009. Having lived in Denmark from 2006-2008 (made bankrupt in the UK, December 2008). I ran up some bills whilst I was there which I am sure I had cleared off as. I went to vist a friend in Denmark this weekend and I was stopped at passport control by the police saying I had a warrant from one of the banks I delat with whilst I was over there. I can only think that it was a gym membership that they said I hadn't cancelled and despite my recent attempts to contact them with the fact that I written to them to cancel in true jakjo still (at the time of course!) I buried my head in the sand!!!! Anyway, I was allowed to come back to the UK tonight with the provise that I call the bank in the morning.
My question is, before I call them and with the amount being accumulated before I went bankrupt, is this covered in my bankruptcy? I think the there are special laws in Denmark as aposed to the other EU countries? I must admit I was pretty shocked when I got stopped.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks very much.

I believe than only UK debts are covered by UK bankruptcy but as Denmark are part of the EU I *may* be wrong. My understanding is that you would have to go bankrupt in both countries but I've not got time to check it out as off to work in a sec. Thought I'd bump this for the others though!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Hi, yes denmark is exempt from the EU agreement. What this means is that they do not have to recognize the bankruptcy in Denmark and can take action against you there. If you have a debt there then they cannot chase you to other countries and cannot touch asses in the UK or other european countries. Obviously if you have assets or want to return to denmark you will be subject to their lawsHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

I would love to but post bankruptcy, times are pretty hard. I'll try to contact them and see what they say.
