Posted this in credit cards but was told I'd get more help here.....
I've posted a similar message before and didn't get a reply so would be really grateful if someone could shed some light on this.
A debt agency offered me a 'deal' where I paid x amount of my bill and they would write off the rest. So I agreed to this - the money I paid was a hefty chunk all at once - and now they're hassling me saying they made a mistake and want more.
From my point of view they struck a verbally binding agreement with me and now won't leave me alone! I'm disgusted by this as I had to sacrfirice a lot the month I paid this card off when I could have stuck to my direct debit agreement.
Should I pay? Will I have to pay? Help!
I didn't get anything in writing but I'm told all calls are recorded (not some as many phone lines state) and they have admitted to me several times that the offer was made etc.
Help!

Welcome to the world of lying cheating no good DCA’s! , unfortunately if you did not receive a letter offering to accept the payment in full and final settlement of the account then there is very little that can be done, even if the calls were recorded ( which is unlikely) then you would find it virtually imposable to get the DCA to release them.
all I can suggest you do is write to them referring to their offer and your subsequent payment, and ask them to confirm that the account is now settled.
Im sorry I cant be more positive, but this is not uncommon trick for DCA’s to pull:rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0 -
yeah, sad to say without anqn offer in writing then there is very little that you can do.Sorry , this is not what you want to hear.
