Hi
I am hoping to join costco tomorrow and have been trying to see on thier website if I am eligable.
I am self employed for a Travel agent, and pay my own tax nat ins etc, I have a utr, have business cards in my name and my business address is my home, will I be able to join?
It says I will need a VAT number but I dont have one of these, yet I know a lot of people who are members who dont own thier own business so wondered how they have got round it?
Thanks

No problem, I joined with a letterhead (home addresss) and a bank statement, self employed, not VAT either. I remember I took a couple of trade invoices as well.0 -

You can pay for membership as a member of the public too. Little bit more expensive but at least you don't have to own a company :cool:0

Ditto the 'make up your own letter headed paper on Word at home and print it off' - you don't need a VAT number (we don't make enough to be VAT registered, so haven't got one), if you have any invoices that would go down well for them as well, or a bank statement in the business name posted to your address works as well.

I used a letter from the tax office re being class 2 tax except to show self employment. Do you have these or similar from tax office ?0
