    That sounds really lovely.

Oh it is. And the view! Through the olive trees you see the town and the sea with all those white sails... And the only sounds you hear are birds and cicadas.:p

Oh, and the orchard/gardens are fertilised by the manure of nearby horse stables... all green here, in every way. ;)

Why what would happen to it then?

legionella breeds in water held at around 42 degrees, just a note of caution

Yes, there would be risks, but I am suggesting heating water to be used as soon as possible - after all it'll cool down again when the sun shifts and the bottles move into the shadow.

that's fine, it will die off at around 60 degrees - that's why hot water cylinders are usually set at this. If you have young children, it may be advisable to mark the bottles - "not drinking water".
It is only a low risk, however it is a risk.
  • If you paint the bottles black, the water will heat up much quicker too

Oh not nosey at all. I came over here to study English. I was supposed to stay for one month on a crash course, but you just don't learn a language in that time, no matter what the hype says. So I found a job as a shelf filler and in the evening I studied for my Cambridge Proficiency in English and got my Certificate two years later. By then I had fallen in love here, made friends, so I stayed... ;)

And anyway, London has its very own special kind of magic..:p

Can't wait to get my own place so I can try out tips like these. Bottles sitting around on the kitchen windowsill would just get chucked out by my housemates at the moment :(

a black pan full of water got very warm when out in the sun yesterday. Only out for a few hours too. Very pleasing result. I also tried water in a clear glass jug and it got warm but not as hot as in the pan.

I am thinking of getting a few camping kettles and painting them black

The water in the pan was just about hot enough for washing up
