    Hi,

Me n OH are on a DMP with CCCS which started back in December.
Cap One for us weren't happy with our token payment and have never been happy with the pro rata payment made thro CCCS. Cap One have now passed on our debt to CapQuest. Hopefully this means that interest and charges stop.
Barclaycard accepted our token payments and pro rata payments but only interest has stopped on one card.
TBH I think it's hit n miss re creditors acceptance of token payments. Or to put it another way they'll still take your money regardless of whether they're happy with it !

    Good luck with your DMP.

The only cards that I can advise on are Barclaycard and CITI.

Barclaycard were fine for the first two months - made token payments. Then they wanted the arrears paying off (they did advise me of this in advance). As I couldn't, the debt went to their in-house debt collectors who were not nice - however, I am self administering my own DMP - which they don't appear to like.

I can't remember whether we did token payments or not with CITI. However, we were very quickly onto a payment plan with them - but for more than what it would be pro-rata.

Have you done a statement of affairs yet. My advice would be to do one and see what your pro-rata payments are going to be per card. That way, if a company does want you to pay more straight away, you know what you're dealing with.

Are you phoning your creditors or writing? I found (in the early days) that phoning was better than writing - but you've got to be firm with them. Also, if you have a CCCS reference number, quote this on your correspondence - it seems to be a bit like a 'magic bullet' in the early days.

Hope this helps. Everyone seems to have different experiences with the same creditors so it is a bit of a "suck it and see" situation.

    Good luck

Hi there--- the only one i can advise on is Virgin and im on a DMP with Payplan and they accepted the plan no probs....and ive got 10k of debt with them

    Hope this helps
  • Can only echo what others have said about capital one...whatever you offer them, theyll reject and add a couple of pounds on top knowing you cant afford it...they wont stop any charges and then threaten doorstep collections via their debt dept called Debitas (search these forums for the awful ignorant comapny and read some horror stories).
Capital one will sell your debt to these (even though theyre a branch of cap1) and then be prepared for phone calls hourly from barely english speaking ignorant money grabbing plebs who accuse you of not being co operative.

sorry to be so negative but its the honest truth...i only owed them £450 ish 6 months ago...them ignoring my pleas for help has now escalated it to over £750.

I'm not on a DMP but I do DMPs for debtors...

    so..

    Capital one - Yes.
    Barclaycard - Yes.

The others I haven't worked with, but I have worked with their parent companies and had luck for other cards etc. The one thing to consider is that creditors are usually much more leinient if your affairs are being dealt with by a third party such as CAB, CCCS etc.

Heard lots of tales of horror about MBNA but they were the first to accept and freeze interest, and I've got 2 cards with them.
Wonder if the fact that one card I've had for 30 years and the other about 27 years.
    Maybe there unenforcible.

i am not on a DMP yet but will struggle to pay next months minimum ammounts to the CC companies and was thinking of phoning them to state my position and ask would they accept token payments fora few months until thew DMP was up and running.
I have done a SOA and am aware of what ammounts are available to me.
I am very keen to sort out my debt problems and all you guys on here are a great inspiration:A
I started the process of fighting back yeasterday by asking my mortgage provider to give us some space by going interest only and they agreed staright away - saving us £350 per month for the next 12 months - all to throw at our CC debts :j
keep up the good work everyone.
