How Do I become a Market Trader?

Options
I have started to think about opening a stall at our local Sunday market. The Sunday market is a more commercial market than the saturday bootsale and I would be selling retail products that I have bought with the intention of selling.

Can anyone tell me what I would need - other than paying the site owner. Would I need a licence from the local council as I suspect? If it is any help I live in the Cardiff area.

TIA

I would think the site owner would be able to give you all the information you need. Or try your local council, I just did but could only find info on street trading, not market trading.

Thanks Geordie Joe. I have looked at the council website as well and like you only found info on street trading. Nothing specific to market trading.

It makes me think that you don't need a licence. I suspect the site owner will need a licence and it is up to the to vet who they allow to trade on their site.

Still worth checking and it shouldn't cost you anything to ask.

You would almost certainly need insurance, if you join Market Traders Fed

that gives you free or cut price insurance. All sorts of info on markets as well. Maerket super should tell you all you need to know about trading there, don't buy stock until you've spoken to them as they will usually only let a certain amount of people on to trade certain things.
