New here, possible stupid question ahead!

Hello!
I have a question, it may be a stupid one but I thought I'd ask.
I have very bad credit. I am moving in with my boyfriend, who has perfect credit. I don't want any of mine to follow me to my new address. All I will be doing there is registering on the electoral roll, and telling my bank my new address. This is a standard bank account, no overdraft or anything.
Am I right in thinking that the only way my new address can be connected to my old address is if I apply for credit etc? I'm currently in agreements with a few creditors and really don't want them getting hold of my new address as a) I don't want to affect boyfriends credit and b) I really don't want these people getting hold of the new address as its not actually my house.
I still own the flat I've just moved from, and I will still be getting my post etc sent there so its not like I'm running away from anything. Although I would love to...
Sorry if this is long winded!
If anyone can answer me that would be great.
Thank you!

I don't know.
I did think that, but then I thought well how would they distinguish me from all the other people with my name?0 -
Hi,
the only way that your's & your boyfriend's finances can become linked is if you have any joint financial products, whether that be loans, mortgage, credit card etc. You can not be linked simply from your address anymore, so don't worry about that. My credit file is not good (on a dmp) & my boyfriend who lives with me (on the electoral roll) still has a spotless credit file.
Hope that helps a bit,
JC.

Credit rating is linked to the person not the addresss, as JC as said the only way for your OH to have any conection, is to get a joint finance productPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869

Thank you for your answers.
I'm also actually asking for another reason.. He doesn't know about my debts and I don't want him to. Also why I really don't want letters coming for me at his address!
I know I should tell him, but I'd much rather just not go on the electoral roll. and i'm guessing I should keep my bank account at my old address as well?
sorry. I'm a complete loser0 -
I think it's illegal to not complete the electoral roll form from the local council accurately (I think we get it every 2 years in about Oct time).
Also won't your b/f lose his single occupancy for council tax - that's going to look pretty weird if he doesn't claim it but there's only 1 person apparently living at his place?
Also where will your bank details be sent - is it to a trusted address? A friend moved house after cancelling an American Express Card, it was not cancelled in error and whoever moved in afterwards activated it. He only found out 3 years later when he couldn't get credit.

Hi honey,
please don't think of yourself as 'a loser', you're dealing with your debts & that proves that you're not a loser, don't put yourself down.
I spent 18 months beating myself up about my debts & hiding them from my fiance (not just boyfriend, so if anything I was even worse!). Please have a read of my thread 'need all the help I can get right now', it might reassure/comfort you just a little. If I can figure out how to, I'll post you a link to it in a mo. I also don't mind if you want to pm me about it.
JC.

Aaah JC thats a lovely story. I'm not brave enough to do that yet, I only moved in with him yesterday!
Sou - I'm still keeping my flat, so I will be registered on the electoral register there and won't be illegal. My brother is moving in there for a bit. That is also where my bank stuff will be sent.
He said he's going to put me on the council tax. Aargh this is all too difficult! I'm just hoping that by keeping up to date with payments, no one will have any need to try and trace me to a new address. And one day soon, when I've been a live-in girlfriend for long enough for him not to want to kick me out, I'll tell him.0
