Why not make it for the government? We had fuel demonstrations started by a single man who ended up bringing the entire country to a standstill. Perhaps you're the next man. Stand up lemonjelly and march on Parliament instead of moaning on here at me - an individual who doesn't even own a car!

    I'm confused.
I don't want or need to start a civil demonstration.
I'm here to debate the economic implications of the rising price of oil. My concern is that ongoing rises have implications for our ability to contiue the recovery. Potentially putting it at risk. These implications will affect business', & consumers. Whether you own a car or not, they will affect the price & possibly availability of the stuff you buy.

I posed the question, what, if anything can be done? The response you put forward was cut duty. I countered that by asking if the government can afford to do this? Your response was to incite me to march on parliament!

This is an economic issue, not a political one.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Aren't we getting close to the prices where the fuel protests started last time? Of course there's a few years inflation before it's as much in real terms I suppose.
What do you reckon £1.30 a litre before it all kicks off again?

Edit: As for not owning a car? How do you cope? OK so you're London for work etc but how do you get around the country to see mates etc?

It was when the price per litre was 80p in year 2000 (oil price $30), I make that adjusted for RPI around £1.02p . I think the complaint was about the % tax take 81.5% up from 72.8% in 1993. What is it now?
