Cosmetic Dentists - Porcelain veneers?

Ive still been reseaching this and went to see my own dentist about it. He tells me that i would only need 2 veneers, 1 either side of the front 2 teeth to make them all align. Im still not 100% sure about it but he tells me its a simple procedure and very little prep is required. Basically my 2 teeth either side of my front 2 are too far back so the veneers would make them all level. What are peoples opinions?

Are you really only getting veneers so that all of your teeth appear level?0 -
I was talking to some dentists a while back and they told me that veneers were a bit naff really. Designed at a time when film actors needed fake perfect teeth, like in the 1940s.Happy chappy0

Ive had wonky teeth for 15 years, why wouldnt i want them fixed now when i can?
certainly dont want to wear a brace for 18 months.
Sounds like you've had good discussions with your dentist, so go for it if you're happy.
But you need to factor in the possible maintenance/replacement costs that will be necessary every few years. It won't be a once-only treatment. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Beware breakages! I've had veneers since 2003 and have had six breakages in that time and it's been a heartbreak for me. They always seem to happen at the most inopportune times too ie the day before I was due to go abroad for 3 weeks, the night before a wedding/christening/family get-together - I've had them all. The foods struck off my list now include crusty bread, toffees (obviously), and apples (have to slice them as I daren't bite with my front teeth. I may have just been unfortunate but I read an article by India Knight in the Sunday Times last year where she described a very similar experience from within her circle of friends. She declined the veneers - I wish I had too.0
