Eurax question

Before anyone mentions, I have already asked both a pharmacist and NHD direct nurse about this and neither had a conclusive answer so I just wondered if anyone here had tried this or had an informed opinion about it.
I have eczema on my underarms which now seems to be spreading to my breasts. It is VERY annoying and itchy. I have seen my doctor who gave me a cream by Canesten which has 1% Clotrimazole and 1% Hydrocortisone, its to prevent the itch rather then stop the infection- or that is what I had explained to me. Also hydrochloride pills to take. But its not working!
In my haste to stop the itching after about 12 hours of trying to metaphoricly tie my hands behind my back, I tried Eurax and it worked! But the pack reads "do not use if you are breast feeding"- I am not breast feeding, but as much as my chest seems to be giving me stress in one way or another (it either itches or hurts!) I don't want to cause myself irreversable damage or cause another problem.
Basicly,
do you think it is safe to use Eurax on my breasts and underarms?
I searched everywhere for contact details for Eurax but nothing comes up on a search aside from a phone number which doesn't answer- probably as it is the weekend. If anyone has tried this or has any info on it I'd be really grateful if you could point me in the right direction. The pharmacist said she didn't think I should try it "just incase" while NHS direct said they didn't think it would be a problem as it was likely that it was to prevent a baby swallowing it ratter then it affecting the breast tissue and on a google seach all that came up was that Eurax had not yet tested this and so had no backing to say either way.

Think it's more on babies ingesting than it is on you using it on your boobs, I'd carry on if it's working but don't overdo it if you get what I mean (say use it morning and night and the other cream in the day)** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.

No advice but poor you, that sounds really uncomfortable!0

Thanks so much guys- feel reassured now- am also doubly pleased as I've just worked out the prescribed cream had some steroids in them- in small amounts but was not happy about applying that to my chest!
Eurax it is0 -
I have dyshidrotic eczema and the ONLY thing that has had any effect on it is Eurax. From the first application it stopped the itching and softened the skin to stop it cracking.
The only directive I can see that would apply to application area and your chest is "Nursing mothers should avoid applying Eurax in the area of the nipples".
So there shouldn't be any problem with using it on your chest 2-3 times daily as recommended (as elfen says that will be from an ingestion perspective rather than for your protection).
I am absolutely raving about this product as 2 weeks ago I could have cut my hand off! lol
Yay for Eurax!!!! :T0 -
Have you asked the National Eczema Society? They may not be able to give a definitive answer either, but they may be able to help in other ways!Signature removed for peace of mind0

I have been using eurax for a bit now as I have devloped an allergy rash (from god knows what) which comes up all over my body every now and again an it is so itchy!!! I have had to use the cream on my breasts on occassions and have had no problems. I find this cream to be great in stopping that annoying itch and haven't had any problems with it.
I also have eczema, not so bad now a days but I have always used e45 itch releif on that too.0 -
Thing is, I'm not sure exactly what it is! I thought it was eczema, my GP tells me I have three different things going on, Litchen Planus on my legs, atopic excema and a fungal thing on my under arm (caused I think by the mould in my council run gym as every time I go back there it seems to provide a noticeable rash, I've noticed it over a few months of going back 5 times over 3 months- same thing happend last year when I went to my council run gym inbetween gym membershops and it doesn't seem to be the same when I go to my new gym!) and then theres something else I need to see the GP again about another day which is neither of the above (I tried both creams on it).
I have tried so many excema creams and none of them seem to do anything to help, only stop the itching and I guess thats about as far as I can go which is half gutting and half very depressing. Just am amazed I have three different skin....'disorders' which started all at the same time- I normally get just excema and about once every 2 or 3 years!0 -
If the GP is stumped, ask for a referral to a dermatologist (or dermatology nurse if you have such a service locally).
But it is possible to get several different things going on at once, and they all interact, and it's no fun ... The one to be very wary of is the cold sore virus (herpes simplex) mixed with eczema.
Oh, and there are some forms of eczema which look quite different, I thought I'd seen it all until DH got a new and different one on his feet! :eek:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Think the GP knows whats wrong but is sure there is no cure etc etc. With Litchen Planus the cream she has given me and the pills seem to be helping, the eczema on my bust seems to be made worse by the primark sports bra I wear to the gym (cheap fabric- my fault for taking short cuts, I need a new shock absorber one but can't afford one and TKMaxx are all out of my size) but then theres another rash I will be demanding answers for tomorrow- thought it was warts but its not reacting to any of the freezing treatments I have tried, all over my forearms and really freaking me out! Not itchy but looks like uneven whitehead spots and is spreading fast, I think that one may end up with a dermatologist referal as the GP didn't say anything when I mentioned it last week.
Its madness- (sorry, just sounding off here!!) 3 skin infections/disorders/wahtever they are called, all started in one week! three crowns needed on my teeth within the same month, a cracked tooth, another tooth fell out, in the same month I've also had two colds (I normally get one every 3 years) and I get finally referred to a gasteroentreologist... I am beginning to feel like my body is falling apart...!0
