Wedding fairs - slight rant

I've visited both good and bad wedding fayres. The best ones are usually in a venue that your interested in and are a small local affair costing either nothing or £2.50 each to get in. I don't mind the £2.50 as at these ones I usually get a goodie bag with a free magazine and some Clarins freebies! The local wedding fayres are a good starting point for ideas and with the photographers you can get a good idea of what the different types of album are and what style of photography you like.

The worst fayre I've been to was the National Wedding Show at London Olympia. £11 each (tickets booked in advance) I was expecting a big show, with lots of dresses and ideas. The hall was half-empty and it felt like everyone just wanted to get my details and get me to sign up and agree to something on the day. Dreadful.

FYI, I tell all the suppliers the truth - I don't have a date or venue yet I'm still looking and getting ideas and they are all very nice and don't give me the hard sell. Anyone I don't like I make an excuse and walk away from and their flyer goes straight in the bin!

Wedding fairs are funny things, I hated going to them when I was planning as I didn't like the feeling that I was getting pounced on. Now I'm going to assist an exhibitor and it is just as uncomfortable on this side of the fence. The last show we were at was over £700 for the weekend so the smaller suppliers don't get a look in. This one was £8 to get in to.
Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:
