DMP Payments Going Missing

Hi.

I'm hoping to get some comments/thoughts/advice on this situation...

I've been on a DMP with CCCS since October. I've made all my payments on time and CCCS say they have made all payments on time, but one of my Halifax accounts is not being regularly credited with the money.

The October payment went in ok, so in November I was charged a reduced interest rate and no charges as they'd agreed. My account wasn't credited in November and December, despite the cheques being cashed. As this broke the agreement I went back to being charged the full interest rate and a late payment and an overlimit fee. In January 2 payments went into the account, again breaking the agreement. Nothing went in for Feb and a final one has just been credited.

So...the cheques are being cashed by the Halifax but not being put into my account, meaning I'm being charged the full interest rate, plus additional charges.

I've tried to chase this up a few times but I'm not getting anywhere. I was going to put a complaint in writing asking for them to find the missing money and refund the additional fees and interest I've been charged over the reduced interest rate they agreed in October.

The final issue is that Halifax say I can ask CCCS to pay by bank transfer rather than by cheque. Unfortunately CCCS say they can only do this if the request comes to them directly from Halifax, while Halifax are refusing to contact CCCS to make this request.

Any advice on how to proceed would be welcome.

Gav

I have had a similar situation with payments to B. Gas.
I don't doubt that CCCS are making the payments, and to the correct account - they have even supplied me with the cheque numbers.
BG are still hassling me - solicitors letters, DCA letters and calls etc..... and they are my smallest creditor at £180 !

    Hi there,

Double check that CCCS are quoting the correct account number to Halifax. It may be that the first pymt fell into the hands of an experienced member of staff & they traced the right acct but the following pymts might not have had as much luck & may be sitting in a bank suspense acct. Even 1 incorrect digit would cause a problem.

Don't ask me how I know but I do.

  • Thanks for the replies.

CCCS have also given me all the cheque info: cheque number, full amount (the cheque isn't just for my payment but includes other people's payments as well) and cashing date.

Annoyingly this is my biggest debt so the combination of money going missing + the additional interest and charges makes a big difference.

I'll write to Halifax tomorrow and hope for some action from them.

    Thanks,

    Gav

As CCCS is handling your DMP Halifax are in the wrong in refusing to deal with them.

CCCS are your nominated third party dealing with your DMP and Halifax are supposed to acknowledge this and communicate with them.

Ask Halifax for a copy of their complaints procedure and file a complaint. Just check over all the account details one more time.
