Anyway, just wondered - and please don't be offended by this! - if a trolley bag would help at all? I don't know how many squashed bottles you can get into one of those ...[/QUOTE]
:eek:
thanks for the ideas..apparently my local authority was at one time the worst in britain for recycling, and yes they are improving, but we've been asking for a garden refuse bin for about 18months, so when we saw them starting to bring them we were really pleased..and then they didn't bring them to our side..!
will just keep waiting...and waiting... :cool:Budget for Jan/Feb £240 per 4 weeks
Week 1-£52 :rolleyes: Week 2-£75 :eek:
Week 3-£60.66Week 4-£29.98 Total=£217.58
w/c 18th Feb: £6.500 -
We got our green bins just last month for grass/cutting etc. I'm not sure if we can put veg peelings or egg shells but I can not see any reason why not?became debt free December 060

You are not allowed to put veg peelings in our green garden waste bins just leaves, grass, small branches and cardboard.
We compost peelings anyway.
They do look in all of them before they take them to check.0 -
In my part of Bucks we have;
1 x Green Wheelie Bin, general waste, emptied weekly.
1 x Green Bin, for glass, emptied monthly,
As many black boxes as you need for tins, paper, plastic bottles, emptied fortnightly.
What is strange to me is that I spend time making sure my boxes are sorted according to type.ie.plastic in one, glass in one etc and yet on recycling day they all (with the exception of glass) go into the same lorry at the same time
The council here dont have a garden waste bin but do sell subsidised composters instead.
I keep my plastic bags for the tesco delivery man to take back each week,WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -

The 3 different lorries are the landfill one, which is only fortnightly. Then the recycling one with lots of different containers. Then there's the one for green waste, which goes into big green wheelie bins. But I'm not sure what's happening with the food waste bins although I know the cardboard goes with that - I know it doesn't go with the multi-containered lorry, so does it all get mixed up with the garden stuff?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Here in SE London we have black wheelie bins for general house hold rubbish, and a green wheelie bin for recycling, they are both emptied once a week.
I must say since we got the green wheelie bin, and I have been extra vigilant about recycling (it all goes in together and into the lorry together) I hardly ever have more than one bag of other rubbish!!!
We have a couple of compost heaps in the garden so no food waste goes into the bins anyway.

Here in Warrington, we have
Black wheelie bin for general rubbish
Green wheelie bin for garden rubbish (fortnightly collection)
Blue wheelie bin for paper (5 weekly collection)
EVERYTHING else that you can recycle has to be taken to the bins at the supermarket or dump, and those(particularly the cardboard and plastics) are usually full.
To add insult to injury, we have recently been treated to much correspondence in the local paper, since the Council ruled that any wheelie bin with a lid even slightly ajar will not be emptied as it is a Health and Safety problem! And of course that is exactly what they did.0 -

I have to accomodate 4 wheelie bins...
Black = Household rubbish
Green = Recycling, newspapers, etc
and 2 Brown ones, for garden clippings. When the Council initially left these two brown bins on my front drive way, both having been pre-marked with my house number. I rang the Council saying I thought there'd been a mistake, in that I had been left two brown wheelie bins that day, they said someone would be round to collect one back from me.
That was about 18 months ago. They didn't bother themselves to collect it.0 -
NKDC we have 3 wheelie bins
Green- Recyclables, glass,paper,cardboard etc etc
Brown- Garden waste, grass , small woody items etc etc
Black- Normal waste that goes to the tip
Emptied every fortnight0
