What to do while saving for fees??

Its going to take me about 6 months to save up for fees. I have spoken to cccs and they suggest stopping payments but what is the best way to buy time, should i send token payments or not. I have sent letters and told them I am taking advice etc but just wonder how long that will work for.
I really am dreading the phonecalls etc and wonder if any of you have any advice as to how to deal with creditors.
As yet have no ccjs or anything some debts are with dca.
Dont think I should tell them about bancrupcy?? is that right

I would not tell them about the BR if you did they would just put more pressure on you and maybe apply for a charging order if you own your own property.
Tell they any lie you can think of. miss a few payments, then send a token payment.. miss a few more then tell them your coming into some money on A DATE AFTER YOUR BR.. such and such date.0 -
hi there,
six months is a long time:eek:
Do not tell them you are going BR or they will hound you tenfold.
I sent a letter to each of mine and said I was taking advice and offered a token payment. Will buy you some time.

We changed our landline number for free, told BT we were having nuisance calls and then we ignored our mobile when they rang on that, it is not easy but hopefully you will get through it

Callywally, I'm with Dojoman, why not just change your home phone number? You might be able to get it done for free like Dojoman too. It may be a little inconvenient having to give the new number to family and friends, but if you do have to wait six months to get the fees together then it'll be worth it as 6 months is a long time to avoid calls. Get the number changed, write to them telling them to only contact you by post. Then send in the token payments each month. That should minimise things and if they keep writing demanding payment, just reply stating that your circumstances haven't changed and you can still only manage the token payments and just maintain those £1 token payments until you go BR.0

FWIW - I talked to CCCS and they enclosed their own SOA and template token payment letter in my info pack
I made up the letters and sent, with a £1 payment (initially postal orders) and copy of their SOA in each. I copied it onto back of printed letter to save paper
Most gave me 6 months on token payments within the first 2-3 months of doing this every month religiously the others didn't. I'll be BR before they start up chasing me again..:D
Screen phone calls and ignore anything not written down & you'll get through0 -
Tell them you're an MP, then you'll get away with anything.0

Yes the same thought has crossed my mind, sadley there are different rules for us mere mortals!sonnyboy0 -
I think it tends to be different from person to person; some posters have just had the calls/hounding stop after a little while, some get hounded even after bankruptcy. I don't think it has much to do with how much you owe, more that some just get luckier than others. I'm getting the odd day where I'm not getting any calls, then another (like yesterday) where Barclaycard rang 5 times in a row (on a Sunday evening.) I'm going to get my 'no calls' letter to them posted this week, so they can only contact by mail, then calling CCCS and asking about that token payment template that was mentioned. I've read a thread a few pages back from a poster who had taken out loans over the years and never paid anything back without major reprocussion aside from her credit rating was !!!!!!ed to hell (no idea how she got away with it!)
I've now missed 3 Cahoot payments (since end of Jan), and this month missed my first Santander c/c and Barclaycard (who have hounded me since 1st March) for the first time ever. Also my £1000 overdraft is still outstanding at Barclays. I'm still stressed about it, but there's nothing I can do about it. I just need to pay it by ear and ride out the next few months. There a ways of yet before they sell the debt to a DCA, meantime I just need to put up with the crapola I guess.
