Gas and Electric supply change after discharge could there be a problem?

I was discharge in November last year but have not attempted a credit file clean up yet. I am a council tenant and the nice people have decided to referbish the house, kitchen, bathroom and central heating but I have a worry and I wounder if someone could advise. The house at present is all electric and I have had no probelms with my supplier over my bancruptcy, not sure they have checked my file, but now I will be having gas central heating which will mean a new supply and I'm not sure what will happen if I use the same supplier. I would like to do dual fuel as it's cheaper but if they do a credit check I'm concerned that I will end up on a meter and key system that will turn out very expensive. Not sure if it's better to go with another suppier so I only get the probelm with the gas rather than both. Has anyone had any experience of gas / electric suppier changes after bankruptcy and did they end up on a key meter?
Thanks
