Hi, we have a seperate area where the kids swing and climbing frame is kept - but it keeps getting muddy and overgrown - going to give it a good clearout but rather than grass that gets chewed up - we thought of playbark has anyone any experience of playbark - does it stick to the clothes and trail over the rest of the garden ? does it hold down weeds ? and lastly anyone know of anywhere of any good deals on play bark ? Cheers !

Hi dont know too much about the substance but as long as you lay polythene or similar under it that should stop weeds, recently saw it in Homebase 3large bags for £10.000

i put playbark under kids swingset. first had to put down a weed supressing fabric though and the weeds sometimes do pop through but mostly not.
the only difference i can see between play bark and any other garden bark is that playbark doesn't have any sharp bits in it. (it's been shredded with more care?) but it needs topping up every so often as the bark decomposes.
don't know about tracking everywhere because mine is hardly every used.0 -
have you considered rubber ?,our local B&Q had bags of them for £2.50,they were selling them as safe flooring for climbing frames and swings, the rubber is shredded. It might be worth checking out your local store.0

Now I have another question - does anyone know of any cheaper or bulk deals for bags of Rubber ?
Thanks once again :beer:0 -
I found that hardwood playchips are a good alternative to playground bark and not so messy on the kids clothes.Found mine on Google searched under hardwood playchips.0

Anyone know where i can get Brown/Natural Wood coloured Rubber Play Chippings to cover a kids area as i am getting fed up with the Bark we currently have.
B&Q do a green one but wondering if anyone knows or has used somewhere that sells the brown, wood coloured ones - have found dunweedin -both on eBay and net but would like to see if there are any other retailers/suppliers around that people have used.
Cheers
