David Cameron's Speech this morning

!!!!!! does that mean? Sounds almost Marxist
Hardly.
It means Blair built a broad coalition among the electorate appealing to Mondeo Man/Worcester Woman or whatever politico BS you want to use to apply to so-called middle England. He expanded Labours appeal outside of the usual left wing support that it carried in the eighties and early nineties.
This held broadly in 2001 and to an extent in 2005. It is fragmenting at the moment. I do not see a tribal moron like Brown as being able to pull it back together."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."

I take it they roped you in during the 97 election'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

Not at all.
My allegiance is obvious from my avatar.
I vote with my conscience.
Anyway, back to the topic. What did Dave say ?"There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."

There is SO MUCH that is utterly wrong about Britain today from fat-cat bankers, crushing taxation, feather-bedding the underclass to useless, lazy bizzies and corrupt politicians that a few cities ablaze would be the wake-up call that is long overdue.
Apparently that was going to happen last year. The Brits will take it on the chin we are not the nation we once were. You may see a few p1ssed off lorry drivers holding up proceedings when fuel goes up, which will lead to nothing except them paying for more fuel to go to the half baked protest in the first place. Then that will be about it for the year i t y f :rotfl:
Sorry it's not happening...I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
Was he sure about that
Let's be clear. Every Labour Party manifesto from the first Labour Government in the late 20s/early 30s until the Callaghan Manefesto in 1979 has said they'd destroy the House of Lords and (effectively) private education.
Neither has happened and it's not reasonable to blame the Tories for Labour being unable to stand up to the British establishment. The UK is one of the few developed countries where you can buy privilage for your children - no Labour Government has stopped that.0 -
I watched the speech. It was ok, but hardly Obama charisma/eloquence.
I was disappointed that it lacked hard policy. Long on what was wrong with Labour, but short on what the Conservatives are going to do about it.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Quite. Surely we should have some policy by now. I'm really surprised that the Lib Dems haven't used this opportunity to use the secret weapon that is Vince Cable by now to get something tangible out first. If it came across as sensible enough, everyone else would be seen as nicking their policies. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There are plenty of policies from all of the main parties. The point of the speech is to get a few media friendly soundbites for the news bulletins and to make the audience/party base feel good. The same for the others.
I agree with you on Vince. He is a real asset and someone the public respect. It is almost like Nick is scared Vince will somehow take his limelight. Vince would run rings around George Osborne and Alistair Darling."There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."

Hardly one way traffic is it.
