Hi everyone , just came for a little bit of advice on Sky TV (the new bain of my life!!)
I got sky last year and then a couple of months later got unexpectedly posted to a new camp (am in the army) The new accom manager informed me that I wouldnt be able to put a dish up on my room as they dont allow it so I rang Sky explaining the situation and they said I would have to pay a cancellation fee of £62! I said that the situation was beyond my control and I didnt think I should pay and that they should deem it a special circumstance, they refused and sent me a letter stating what I owed:mad: After surfing the net I found an email address for james murdoch (no longer in use) and sent him an email explaining the situation and how i was disgusted at Sky taking advantage of the awkward sitiations those in the forces find themselves in. Recieved an email back saying how sorry they were and all charges would be waived and my account cancelled. :rotfl:Anyways, a few weeks later I receieved another letter saying I still hadnt paid them the money!!! Rang up and again was told that yes the charges were in fact waived and I was to ignore the letter. A month later and another letter landed in my pigeonhole demanding payment!:mad: Rang AGAIN and was told AGAIN that my charges had been waived. Last week I was happily sifting through my mail when I receieved a letter from a Debt collectors acting on behalf of sky demanding payment once again!! Phoned up straight away and after talking to a nice scottish man was told my charges were definitely waived and to ignore the letter and he would send me confirmation in writing that I do not owe anything. This conversation was on the 9th march and I still havent receievd a letter from sky saying I dont owe them anything, saying that I havent receieved another letter from the debt collectors either. SICK TO DEATH of calling them and having to explain the same thing over and over expecially when it always ends up with the same answer:mad::mad::mad: Emailed a complaint through a few days ago about the whole thing, no response as yet........NIGHTMARE! Anyone got an email address for anyone high up in sky??
Sorry it was so long!

I am glad you managed to get them waived, companies generally do not wavier charges unless its their fault. If people move house and there sky dish is disallowed they have to pay to cancel, same to having to move to a new location for work if your mobile has no signal the operator won't let you cancel.
Anyways, no i haven't got an email for sky, try ringing sky and ask them for a letter to be spent out, ask to speak to a manager, it shouldn't really be that hard. Once you have a letter just forward it to any debt collectors.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
thanks for your reply, have contacted oftel and ofcom about the issue, hopefully hear something back soon!
