Yep, I can't wait to be debt fee although I am also looking forward to March when the debt that is accruing interest will be paid off, as that means no one is making money out of me being in debt :-)Official DFW Nerd #148

woot woot thats something i've realised on this site, i'd always ignored both my od's in favour of paying off the cc's, yet my (admittedly smaller) od is the only thing i pay interest on...so now i'm concentrating on that bad boy then the cc!0 -
Echoing what others have said about the sky. But another thought is can you keep a diary for a week of what channels you watch and how long for, I know a lot of people after doing this have realised they only spend half hour watching sky and the rest they can get on freeview? Spending over £50 a month on tv (when you take into account your tv liscence too is a huge amount when as you say you are now paying off debts with other cards!
Good luck, your figures certainly look manageable, now your detirmined to tackle it there are plenty of options to save in your budget. Also why not add a signiture to your posts with a tally off your total debts, I've only just done this but there is a real incentive now for me to be able to see the amounts coming down, similar to weight watchers humiliate yourself into publicly showing you can do it!

That's a good idea, but I know that we do watch Sky a lot so it wouldn't work for us, but maybe for other people.Official DFW Nerd #148

definately not right for everyone but i'd reccomend anyone who signed up to sky in the pre freeview days checks their useage, a lot of my friends didn't realise how much you get on freeview now. It's one easy save if you don't actually watch the sky channels!Riding out the receession.........0 -
Freeview looks great and basically all the channels they provide are the ones we watch but the one thing holding me back is the fact we have Sky plus (which I love) and I'd hate to lose the features it provides. Not to mention we've bought and paid for that box!
Talked it over with OH though and he's phoned up Sky. The lowest package we could drop to on Sky plus is £15 but still provides us with a good package (and all the kiddies channels - vital!) so I think we're gonna go for that.
£15 from £44.50 = BIG saving :money:0 -

My mother in law has freeview at her house, plus some channels on top up tv, so we know what we miss watching when we are up there. I think for us the mix of channels is just right on our Sky package. However, if freeview added some more of our favourites we would definitely look into it.
Is Sky Plus the one where you can record live programmes etc etc? I think £15 from £44.50 is a great saving and a good compromise, well doneOfficial DFW Nerd #148

For the last few years, I have had a £20 limit per birthday or christmas present. That means for the 20 people I buy for the total cost a year is £800. I guess you must buy really expensive presents if you are saving £300 a month for them.
If you go on the Old Style board you will find all sorts of information, to help you save money.
Best of luckI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
