There should be plenty of cheap Amd processors going around just now as they have slashed prices to compete with Intel. Loads of bargains to be had. :T

Same thing £64.62 NOT inc. p&p from Dabs, but cheaper than overclockers, so good for PC world and convenient (no waiting for post!).

AMD don't need to compete with Intel.

Intel lost the fight long ago :D

The new Core 2 processors put Intel ahead of AMD. AMD's strategy is to start a price war - a little worrying given Intel have much deeper pockets.

To be honest it's better pay the little bit more for a dual core model - as time goes on there will be more optimisations for dual core CPU's.

You can get the dual core 3800+ at overclockers for £114. Much better value than the single core..

When are these price drops likely to filter through to the manufacturers of systems?
I'm in the market for a new desktop machine and I am trying to work out the best place to buy.

I am currently looking at systems from PC Specialist (I don't like their cases though), and Vantage computers.
These places can offer fairly high spec machines at what appear to be very good prices.

I know Dell are good, and very cheap, but I'm pretty sure that they can't compete with the systems these guys are putting together. Thing is, I'm looking to get a dual core 64x athlon sytem made (most likely 4200+ chip).

Any leads would be great people, for alternative builders I could investigate...

    This looks interesting mistry.
    I'll take a look. Cheers.
I take it this has a good motherboard for further updating if need be? (ie changing the cpu to a FX57 later etc).
